With us, young people change their attitude to learning; we instill curiosity, empathy and pride.
About our impactHow SSF supported this student's development
We’re taking part in this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge!
As our Patron Hugh Dennis says in our video your donation will enable us to empower more children from disadvantaged areas with the confidence they need to succeed.
The challenge runs from 3rd - 10th December. During this time, every donation made to us will be doubled, enabling us to transform the lives of more young people through our flagship project - Shakespeare Schools Festival.
Through taking part in the Festival, children gain confidence, make new friends and do better in class. To help us reach more young people in from disadvantaged areas in 2020 who might not otherwise get this experience, we’re setting an ambitious target of £60,000. Next year is a special year for us - we'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary year of helping young people gain the confidence and resilience they need.
Your support will help children like Kabeera, 14. She said, “We decided to set Othello where we live in Birmingham. We wanted to present the story in a way that is relevant to us. It’s helped us face up to the reality of gang violence, and it shows the world what is happening to us. I think drama is so important. It enables everyone to be themselves and not hide.”
Will you help more children like Kabeera face the toughest of challenges?
During the Big Give Christmas Challenge...
A donation of £30 becomes £60 - this could give one young person from a disadvantaged area the opportunity to take part in our 2020 Festival.
A donation of £120 becomes £240 - this could help a school in one of the UK’s most disadvantaged areas take part in our 2020 Festival.
A donation of £600 becomes £1200 - this could support a whole night of performances during our 2020 Festival.
Last year, we were delighted to be named winners of the Big Give Christmas Challenge Award. With your help, we can make our 2019 campaign even more successful!
Many thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and our generous pledgers for providing match funding.
The donation portal will go live at 12noon on 3rd December. Check back here to access our page on the Big Give Christmas Challenge website and make your donation!
