Q: What will I get from the Festival as a teacher?
- A full-day, in-person CPD session at a regional hub, guided by our drama facilitators. This session offers an opportunity to connect with like-minded Teacher-Directors.
- Further coaching-style training for lead teachers and production meetings for Teacher-Directors throughout your Festival journey.
Q: What will my students get from the Festival?
- A half-day workshop delivered in your school, tailored to the needs of your performance. This workshop will guide students through the secrets of theatre staging and performance.
- A professional theatre performance experience on a local stage. After approximately six months of hard work and practice, your students will present their Shakespeare production to an audience of family and friends, alongside other local schools, in a spectacular celebration of creativity.
- Strengthened essential skills, including confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
Q: What other supporting resources will I receive from Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation?
- Your playscript, abridged by acclaimed writers, including Sir Tom Stoppard and Jamila Gavin.
- Play-specific schemes of work linked to the National Curriculums of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
- Ongoing support from one of our dedicated Programme Coordinators.
Q: What kind of impact does the Festival have on students?
At the end of each Festival, we ask Teacher-Directors to share how they and their young people have changed through the project.
Last year:
- 97% of teachers reported having a stronger relationship with their students
- 97% of teachers felt their students were more ambitious
- 81% of teachers reported improved academic attainment among their students
